Leonardo's Mona Lisa is just a thousand smears of paint. Michelangelo's David is just a million hits with a hammer. We're all of us a million bits put together the right way. The goal isn't to live forever. The goal is to create something that will...Chuck Palahniuk

Bound to Cover Just a Little More Ground

The Ministers Cat is an....Aboriginal Cat

This is my Aboriginal Art assignment. First students learn about Australia and the artwork of the Aboriginies. Students then pick an animal from a collection of black & white graphic images. After viewing a series of Aboriginal paintings, students begin creating designs with dots over their animal & also in the background. The final product is then copied & rotated to achieved a finished product such as the one above. A gradient is then applied to the background to unify the artwork.

Expressionism Assignment

This lesson analyzes the artwork of Edward Munch and other expressionistic painters. The lesson is focused around the painting "The Scream" and encourages students to study how line/color/etc. can elicit a sense of emotion. Students first take a photograph of themselves showing an emotion (anger, sadness, happiness, etc.) Students then use Photoshop to liquify their facial features & use other filters to enhance the sense of emotion they are trying to portray. Students then add pictures/text, etc. that coincide with the emotion the student has chosen to convey in their self-portrait. My example illustrates the stress that I feel while driving through Milwaukee during rush hour!! (UCK)

Life is Calling-How far will you go?

http://www.peacecorps.gov/

I have just been nominated for primary education/teacher education in the Pacific Islands!

Tattoos

The tattoo to the left is mine. It is a sketch done by Pablo Picasso. "Dove of Peace"
This tattoo is a symbolic reminder for me to continually search for love, inner peace and happiness in my life.

The tattoo on the right is a tattoo I designed for Mrs. Staelens in memory of my friend Sean who passed away this fall. Sean's name is written in the trunk of the tree. His sisters names (Mariah,
Molly, & Katie) are all written in the branches. I will miss Sean & his infectious smile. He always made me laugh.
