This lesson analyzes the artwork of Edward Munch and other expressionistic painters. The lesson is focused around the painting "The Scream" and encourages students to study how line/color/etc. can elicit a sense of emotion. Students first take a photograph of themselves showing an emotion (anger, sadness, happiness, etc.) Students then use Photoshop to liquify their facial features & use other filters to enhance the sense of emotion they are trying to portray. Students then add pictures/text, etc. that coincide with the emotion the student has chosen to convey in their self-portrait. My example illustrates the stress that I feel while driving through Milwaukee during rush hour!! (UCK)
